"This is a portrait of a handsome Warmblood named Dexter, who is being watched over by an angel horse named Threya. Their caretaker Morgen asked me to tell their story in a portrait. Morgan had nearly lost Dexter when she commissioned this portrait to celebrate his profound impact on her life. Morgan's name means "by the shore", and in his earlier years Dexter loved jumping, so I portrayed him jumping through the waves. The cloud in which I portray Threya, was inspired by an actual cloud that appeared over my farm the week before I started the portrait.
