Halcyon

Halcyon

“A horse from the blue
Emerged into form
Was he a memory of a spirit I knew?
Or did he first take shape in the colors of my chalk?”
~ Kim McElroy

hal-cy-on: adj. 1. Calm and peaceful; tranquil

Halcyon was one of my first inspired creations in 1987 when I using pastels to create my horse inspirations. The beautiful colors formed swirls and colors and a shape of an ethereal and haunting horse face emerged. Later, someone observed the image of a wizard in the forelock. Others found a woman and a small horse. This magical painting taught me that there was always more that could be discovered than first meets the eye, and that one can sense other magical beings in the presence of horses.
