Eleven ride the wind

“In the purple and rose colored hills and valleys
of a cloud that rolled on forever,
shapes of horses converged and emerged…
dissipated… only to form again.”

~ Kim McElroy

Many people can relate to finding images of animals in clouds. Similarly, “Windborne” was inspired by a real cloud formation. It is always a challenge and a joy to search for the perfect cloud in which to paint the shapes of horses. When I created the painting, I wove the horses into the clouds, depicting them in the unity of a herd, in natural poses that convey their temperaments.
