A mare gazes from beneath the moss-covered branches which cast a filigree of light and shadow across her face, inviting us to pause and hear the soft whistles of a white-winged dove taking flight. The tender grasses bring awareness to the balance of body, mind, and spirit.
“Stillness” was inspired by an encounter I had with a beautiful mare in a stand of trees. As I relaxed with her comforting presence, I admired the play of light and shadow on her face. I have recreated and enhanced this effect in this Shadow Box. This hand-deckled edged print is mounted to give dimension to the art against a backdrop of handmade origami marbled paper. Embellished with a moss-covered branch, the wing feathers of a white-winged dove, and dried grasses.
