“Elysian” was inspired by the powerful mare who reigns the realm where heroes go when they die. This is a hand-embellished pastel created over a print of the previous original art. As I created it, the original vision for the expressions of the horse completely changed and this is completely new and different being. It is impossible to photograph this work of art and show the accurate colors, for they change with the available light.
In Greek mythology, Elysian refers to the abode of the blessed, paradise. Situated at the end of the world, it is the final resting place for the souls of the heroic and the virtuous; sometimes called the Elysian fields.
